The 6U division is for our 4, 5 and 6 year olds (as of Dec. 31, 2017), teaching the girls the fundamentals of softball in a fun learning environment while playing together with their friends.
Girls aged seven with no prior softball experience can also play in this division.
Girls are placed on teams together with their schoolmates to encourage friendship and camaraderie.
The playing rules are relaxed to encourage full participation. The 6U division is like T-ball but with an opportunity to hit a coach-pitched ball. This division uses the 10" squishy softball.
The 6U season will begin on January 27, 2017, with a dedicated clinic to get the girls acquainted with the basics of the game. Games will begin on February 10, 2017, with Opening Night the evening before.
They begin to learn the game!
How to catch the ball.
How to throw the ball.
How to hit the ball.
When to run.
Where to make the correct defensive play.
How to play as a team.
Every girl plays in every game.
No-one sits on the bench: Every girl plays in the field when her team is playing defense.
Every girl bats in every inning.
The girls have an opportunity to hit coach-pitch but after four pitches, players will hit off the tee.
There are no strike-outs.
There are no walks.
No scores will be kept. No standings will be reported.
There are no weekday practices. One game a week will be played on Saturday.
Game day commitment is about 90 minutes.
About 30 minutes will be used for practice and the next hour for two innings of game play.
